Dr. Larry Lykens was born in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania on May 30th, 1949 the son of Thomas D. and Ruth N. Lykens. He became a member of the Williamsburg Church of God at the age of nine under the pastorate of his uncle, the Reverend David N. Lykens. He began his ministry in Pennsylvania under Dr. Gene Rice serving that stat as a state evangelist until 1975. He became the pastor of the Piedmont, West Virginia Church of God in September of 1975 and remained there until June of 1978 at which time he was called upon to pastor the Kellyville Church of God, where he had a very successful pastorate, building a new sanctuary and seeing tremendous numerical growth. He was then called upon by the Executive Committee to accept the pastorate of the Williamson Road, Church of God again seeing tremendous growth. In 1992, he went to Pastor the Damascus Church of God in Damascus, Maryland and remained there until 1994. He again served as National Evangelist until 1996 at which time he planted a church in Roanoke, Virginia and remained there until coming to his present pastorate of Harvest Church in Springfield, Missouri. He has a heart for evangelism, but his greater desire, love, and compassion is that of being a pastor. He enjoys the counseling side of ministry and has a deep compassion for those who are struggling to survive to make it in this life. He is married to Margaret F. Lykens and has three children and eight grandchildren. His elderly mother resides in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Central High School in 1967 and began his college career in August of 1967 at lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, He has received a Bachelor of Divinity, a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity as well as a Doctorate of Pastoral Counseling. |
